Testing the speed of your Internet

It’s important you follow the instructions below to perform a proper accurate speed test, The testing device and any wifi routers and or modems MUST BE REBOOTED prior to performing the test. You CANNOT simply downoad an app like Ookla onto a device and expect it to give you an accurate result.

Instructions: Disconnect all devices from the Internet except one device to be used for testing. This includes PC’s IPTV Boxes and mobile devices. The device chosen for testing must be in a healthy condition and hard wired via Ethernet if possible. If WIFI has to be used for testing please position the testing device at approximately 1 metre away from the wifi router, the router antennas should be in an upright position and no obstructions between the router and testing device. Make sure the testing device is not performing any background updates or in the process of any file transfers. Once you are ready  click the nperf picture below to start testing. When reporting back with the results. please include the ping time as reported.

nperf Speed test

nPerf accurately tests your internet connection’s performance.

The nperf speed test relies on an exclusive algorithm allowing you to measure accurately download bitrate, upload bitrate and latency of your connection.
nPerf uses a worldwide dedicated servers network, which is optimized to deliver enough bitrate to saturate your connection, so that we can measure its bitrate accurately.

nPerf is compatible with all broadband and mobile connections: ADSL, VDSL, cable, optical fiber FTTH / FTTB, satellite, wifi, wimax, cellular 2G / 3G / 4G (LTE)

Why Nperf?

We are all familier with speedtest apps like Ookla, speedtest.net, speakeasy etc, different apps are suited to different scenarios, We have chosen Nperf because it is HTML based, has servers well located and suited for our Network and gives a near true reading of what we actually see going through a line when the test is perfomed, other apps will perform with less consistency, Ookla’s speedtest for example rarely gives more than 80% of the true reading on our network and often much less, especially on Apple devices for some reason, where as Nperf may give poor readings in much the same way on other Networks. By using Nperf we know the reading you give us will tell us the information we need. You may think we are making this up and in some way Nperf is loaded in our favor, but this is not the case you can test this out yourself by trying a few apps that are not good on our network like Speakeasy

Before using nperf you must ensure it is testing to a Spanish server, ideally madrid. follow the steps below to select the correct testing server

In the nperf page you will see the test app, there is a green button marked “Server Selection”,tap or click on this button to go to the server selection page, select a Madrid server and you will then be returned to the main test app where you can start the test.

There is also an nperf app for Android and Apple smart phones available in the relevent app stores. The mobile apps are even better as they have seperate streaming tests that test more than just the speed of the line.
