Illegal downloading of Copyrighted Material
14 October 2013 at 04:01

Due to the high number of Abuse notices sent us with regard to the illegal downloading of copyrighted material it is quite possible we will soon be forced by authorities to disclose the identity of the offending customers or face prosecution ourselves. At this stage no such enforcement notice has been served, however we, and I am sure our customers, do not want this situation to occur in the future. We will be sending an email to all customers in the next few days asking them not to continue such activity.
The method of dowloading using torrents and PC software such as Utorrent, bittorrent etc is totally detectable by the authorities and must not be used on the Compusurf Network for the purpose of downloading copyrighted material where the author has not given permission. Any such activity is a breach of our service agreement. Compusurf SL will not be liable for any such breach of the law. The end user ( the customer) will be wholey resposible as a breach of our service agreement has occuured. Please be aware if Compusurf are ever ordered by the courts to reveal the identity of the offending user we will have no choice but to comply, We do not want things to get to that stage so in the interests of our users privacy and protection will be taking the following action

As from the 1st of November we will start to reduce the ability of torrents to work on the Compusurf Network. Other providers have allready started to simply blocked them, However as there are perfectly legal uses of torrents for downloading updates, copyright free material etc we feel this is unfair. So if you wish to continue using torrents for legal purposes then we will ask you to sign a simple dislaimer that states you will not knowingly use torrents for any illegal activity and relieve Compusurf SL of any liabilty.

Below is a sample abuse notification, we recieve many every day.
